I nearly fell from the plank connecting the boat to the pier. Someone with quick reflexes held me.
It was rough ride to Consuelo, Camotes. . I tried to read to unfocus my mind from the waves.

After a bumpy Habal=habal ride.
Santiago Bay was crowdless. The only other guests, a family friend of the owner.

The sea, how powerful.

I saw the Philippines in a better light when I went to Moalboal. Somehow meeting people from other countries who choose this country to be a destination makes me think turtling here in our own backyard is good after all.

About me and this blog

You may call me turtle. I live in Manila with Embee, my husband.
A forty year old woman who likes to walk. I don't drive, but that's just one of the reasons why I walk. I would like to see life pass by me slowly. That's another one.

Reading Xray is what I do. I like it. In fact, when I decided to deload myself in 2005, I did not erase it from my weekly schedule. I used to teach at a university hospital. I practiced radiation oncology there and in another private hospital. At the same time, I read xray in a small hospital near where we live.

Later, I evaluated my life and I realized I needed to lateralize than verticalize. I therefore froze my radiation oncology but continued reading xray in the small hospital mentioned above.

I am a Jehovah's witness. It is another reason why I walk (and talk to people). In this blog you will see brachy-walks (walks nearby) and tele-walks (far walks). The brachywalks could be due to my walking as a witness or sometimes I walk home from work, to work or to anywhere near. The telewalks are when I go south or a little north where my other loved ones are and when Embee and I have secular seminars to attend. When we have scheduled seminars, we sometimes spend 1-2 days extra to explore the area. I am glad I live in the Philippines, you will see it obvious here.

An eldest daughter of an engineer-teacher and a teacher. My childhood was rural, mostly spent in the COMVAL province, previously part of Davao del Norte. I am a sister to two women, both in their thirties now and living in Mindanao. I am glad there is internet (and telephone), for a reason other than blogging.

For many years I studied and hopped from the public elementary school just in front of our house in COMVAL, to a coed private high school (Assumption) a short walk everyday, to a state university in college a long bus ride away (MSU-IIT), then to Ateneo (CDO-Xavier U) for human body works and diseases, and UP-PGH for residency training and subspecialty training. The longer, the farther from home, honestly I just notice now. Thanks to my parents for letting us, all girls, soar. The variety of instructions and culture in each institutions has shaped and influenced me (some tell tale signs of multiplicity may be shown in this blog), but I guess less than the influence of my parents and the Bible (since the 1990's) on me.

Although I value company, I am not intimidated by solitude. After all, my favorite thing to do (reading) is best done in that state. I lived alone from 16 to 29 years old, going home to COMVAL whenever I can. In those times and even now, I enjoy listening by reading (and actual listening, too). I like reading on the web, but I cherish more curling in bed with a good story or nonfiction, with naps in between (which have become longer, and shorter in between, as I age). Marrying Embee has not dampen my reading, it gives me a better platform for digesting what I have read other than thinking about it.

Comments are welcome, so if you feel so inclined feel free to leave one. I, however, will not publish anything that is insulting or demeaning.

Thank you for your visit. Come back when you have spare time. Don't worry, I will not blog about my work or my problems. This used to be a personal-family-close friends blog but I realized I may have been violating the privacy of my loved ones and friends by posting their pictures and names on the web. So I deleted that part. For a time, this became a "going local" travel blog. But as I age, the turtle pace becomes slower. This now, after many turns, has become a "simple ordinary-ness of the day" blog. Just consider this a little teaspoon of sugar in the sea of blogs.

I encourage you to see my links (blog roll and websites) located on the side bar of the home page of this blog.

I will try to update ...the turtle said.
